Postdoctoral positions: The Herr Lab is accepting applications for postdoctoral positions. A Ph.D. in engineering, chemistry, or life sciences disciplines is preferred, with a strong track-record of peer-reviewed publications of your research. Interested applicants should send their CV including the names/emails of 3 references, a summary of research contributions (1-2 pages), and 3 representative peer-reviewed publications to Prof. Herr.

Admitted & enrolled doctoral student positions: We have openings for Ph.D. students (direct admit & rotation students) interested in dissertation research involving engineering design, concept development, and collaborative application of microfluidics, BioMEMS, & microanalytical tools to the life and biomedical sciences. Using both rigor and creativity, our research projects involve biological systems (cells and organisms), microfabrication, and quantitative engineering analyses. Once admitted to UC Berkeley, please send CV to Prof. Herr to arrange a time to meet. Our lab occasionally has openings for Masters of Engineering graduate students, and coordinates projects through UC Berkeley programs.

Potential graduate students: Interested students should apply to the UC Berkeley/UCSF Graduate Program in Bioengineering, the UC Berkeley Mechanical Engineering or EECS Graduate Programs, the UC Berkeley Chemical Biology Graduate Program, or the UC Berkeley Applied Science & Technology Graduate Program.

UC Berkeley undergraduate student positions: Undergraduates interested in research during the semester should identify opportunities through the UC Berkeley Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program (URAP) (including a follow on stipend-supported summer URAP) and the via UC Berkeley SMART Mentoring program. When considering summer research opportunities, undergraduates are highly encouraged to make use of this comprehensive resource for positions at — and beyond — the UC Berkeley campus (i.e., NSF REU summer positions).
